H.A.L.A.U. - Our Place to Grow
In the Hawaiian Culture, the HALAU was a place where teaching, learning, and preparation for life began. It was the largest building in the village and therefore often functioned as a classroom.
At Calvary, HALAU stands for Healing All, Loving All, Unconditionally. This is the message of Jesus Christ, and because of this, we are passionate about seeing people's lives and hearts being restored to God our Father. He created us; therefore, it is only through relationship and right living with Him that we will find true fulfillment in life.
In growing in our walk with God, we focus on four areas--membership, maturity, ministry, and missions. These four subjects are the topics of Calvary's HALAU courses. Developing these areas strengthens our lifestyle of worship to God. The purpose of the HALAU courses is to develop and give you tools that foster your own personal spiritual growth and enable you to find a place in God's Kingdom where your gifts and talents can thrive. Find out more about what our community is all about and where you fit, through our HALAU courses. Visit the Calvary Calendar to find out when the next HALAU course is happening or contact Nancy Cavalla for more information.
HALAU 101--Come In and Belong: Membership Introduction
This basic introduction to our church family is designed to clearly explain who and what our church is. You’ll learn about our beliefs on salvation, our statements of purpose, and our church’s strategy and structure. You’ll also hear about the history of our church, how five biblical purposes are necessary to fulfilling God’s calling for your life, and the plans for the future of Calvary Community Church. At the end of the class, you’ll be given the opportunity to decide whether to complete the membership process by filling out and signing the membership covenant.
HALAU 201--Get Grounded: Personal Maturity
Do you want to become more like Jesus? HALAU 201 will help you develop the habits you need to jump-start your spiritual growth. It will give you an overview of the three basic spiritual habits every Christian needs in order to grow: daily time with God (prayer and Bible study), giving, and fellowship.
HALAU 301--Find Your Place in God's Family: Using Your Uniqueness for Ministry
Did you know that God created you with special gifts intended for his purposes? God didn’t design ministry for just a few – he made each one of us a minister. At HALAU 301, you’ll learn how God can use your Spiritual Gifts, your Heart, your Abilities, your Personality, and your Experiences (S.H.A.P.E.) to minister to the needs of others.
HALAU 401--Share God's Message of Hope with Others: Discovering Your Mission
In HALAU 401 you’ll discover your life mission and how you can be a part of God’s plan to reach out to the world. This class will help you:
• Develop a personal perspective of the Gospel message
• Develop your personal story of how God has worked in your life
• Build confidence in sharing your story
• Understand the P.E.A.C.E. Plan and how you can begin to be a part of it.
HALAU 501--Our Worship To God
When you connect all four corners together it forms a crosshair--this is what HALAU 501 represents. It is the focus of what HALAU is all about, our Worship to God. Worship is the center of everything we do at Calvary. While this is not a formally taught class, you will learn after attending all four HALAU that we are able to bring pleasure to God through our worship and that worship is far more than music – anything you do that brings glory to God is an act of worship. Every activity can be transformed into an act of worship when you do it for the praise, glory, and pleasure of God.
